Parent & guardian information

Everything an adult needs to know before a child plays Maths Tycoon.

What Maths Tycoon is

Maths Tycoon is a maths practice game for UK primary children (Years 1–6). Children answer curriculum maths questions, earn pretend gold coins and XP, level up, collect items and pets, and take on friendly computer opponents in solo battles. It is a learning aid, not a replacement for school teaching.

Why we collect any data at all

Only so the game works: to sign the child in, to give them questions at the right year group and difficulty, and to save their progress so it is still there tomorrow. We do not sell data, show adverts, or use any third-party analytics or tracking.

What is stored

  • Email address and password (password stored securely by our authentication provider).
  • Username (please use a nickname) and year group.
  • Coins, XP, level, badges, streaks, avatar and customisation choices.
  • Quiz answers, accuracy and timings, plus a per-topic mastery score.
  • Items owned, collections, solo battle results and in-game investment data.
  • Any beta feedback or waitlist message you send us.

Signed-out visitors cannot read any of this. Other players can only see leaderboard entries: rank, username, avatar, level and score.

What children can and cannot do in the beta

They can
  • Answer maths questions and earn pretend coins and XP
  • Buy in-game items, pets and customisations with pretend coins
  • Play solo battles against computer characters
  • Appear on leaderboards under their username
They cannot
  • Chat or message anyone — there is no chat of any kind
  • See adverts — there are none
  • Spend real money — there are no payments at all
  • Upload photos, share links or contact other players

Actions that need a parent or guardian

  • Creating the account and accepting the Terms and Privacy Policy.
  • Receiving and clicking the email verification link.
  • Resetting a forgotten password (the link goes to the account email).
  • Requesting data access, a data copy, or account deletion.

We do not currently run an automated age-check or a separate parental-consent step. Consent is given by the adult who creates the account, so please set the account up yourself and keep the email address under your control.

How the closed beta works

Access is invitation-only. You can join the waitlist, and an account is only able to play once we approve it for the beta. Features are still changing, faults are expected, and progress may occasionally be reset. There is a feedback button in the app — anything you or your child sends helps us fix things.

How to request deletion or a copy of the data

Sign in and open the Account & data page. From there you can download a copy of everything stored for the account and submit a deletion request. Deletion requests are handled by our team during the beta, normally within 30 days, and remove the account and its game data. You can also email privacy@mathstycoon.uk from the account's email address.
